How Can I Apply for A Restricted Driver’s License in California? DUI License Suspension in CA

If you were arrested for a DUI in California, your driver’s license was probably seized and you were given a pink temporary driver’s license. This pink document allows you to drive for 30 days, until your license is officially suspended by the California DMV. Once your license is suspended you may be able to apply for a restricted license. This specific article is for a First Offender DUI case, not multiple.

Here is how you apply:
  1. Enroll in a licensed DUI First Offender program. (You must notify the program provider that you intend to apply for a restricted driver license).
  2. Ask the program provider to file a Proof of Enrollment Certificate (DL 107).
  3. Obtain SR 22 –High Risk Car Insurance and File Proof (California Insurance Proof Certificate).
  4. Pay a $125 reissue fee.
  5. Wait until the end of the mandatory 30-day suspension period before applying for a restricted driver license.
  6. Complete the Restricted Driver’s License Application.
The Restricted License is valid for 5 months from the issuance date. Good Luck. Call me if you need help.
