Under Age DUI Arrest in California

If you are arrested in California for driving while under the legal age of 21, your exposure to punishment by the criminal justice system is more harsh. This is in essence because you have violated two laws; under age drinking, and driving under the influence.

For under age drinkers there can be no measurable amount of alcohol in your system when you are pulled over by the police. California has a NO TOLERANCE law. As a consequence, the DMV will attempt to suspend your diver’s licensee for at least 1 year even if your BAC is below .08.

If you are arrested for a crime, specifically a DUI in California, you will have your driver’s license taken and you will be issued a pink temporary driver’s license. You will also be issued a citation with a court date.
